As you’ve probably read, the state of Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Governor Tony Ever’s stay-at-home orders with a 4-3 ruling on May 13, allowing Wisconsin businesses to begin reopening.
This sounds wonderful and exactly what we’ve been hoping for.
So what is the reopening environment going to look like in Wisconsin? Is it back to business as usual?
Earlier today, I received a detailed email from a prominant local gym in Wisconsin detailing what the reopening “rules” look like.
Welcome to the new normal.

We are so excited to reopen and welcome you back to the club!
In order to book your next workout session, please complete this web-form (details of the web form are below). In this initial phase, we’re allowing 10 members to work out in 55-minute sessions.
Review the web-form carefully to ensure you’re complying with our precautions, protocols and limitations to create a safe and healthy environment for our members and staff.
After completing the web-form, you’ll be redirected to a web-page that will include a link to book your next workout session on Calendly. Please save the link to book future workout sessions.
Booking a workout session has been opened up from May 20th through May 24th on Calendly. Availability for booking will open up weekly to ensure we can make any necessary changes to our precautions, protocols, limitations & booking system to comply with updates from the federal, state, and local government.
You can expect an email every Sunday with any club updates and changes for the following week.
The next phase, in accordance with government mandates, will be to open up to 50 members for 90-minute workout sessions booked with the same reservation system and some changes still in place. The final phase, in accordance with state mandates, we will remove the reservation system but certain limitations in the club will continue to exist.
Please also keep in mind for the time being our credit system will remain in place and virtual options will be still be offered.
We appreciate your patience & time with this new system. Everything we’re doing is in an effort to serve you, our wonderful members, while ensuring we are able to provide a safe environment for you, our staff, and our community! Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you soon!
As you can clearly see, “reopening” is not going back to the life we knew before the COVID-19 agenda began. It’s difficult to see how businesses can sustain themselves long-term under these rules.
Will businesses such as this be able to remain viable in this “new normal” the powers-that-be have decided to create for us?
